Why watch this film?
Claire, a beautiful young woman works at her late father's hotel that is now managed by her evil stepmother Maud. Claire unwittingly sparks uncontrollable jealousy in Maud, whose young lover has fallen in love with Claire. Maud decides to get rid of Claire who finds shelter in a farm where she's allowed to break free from her strict upbringing through encounters with seven "princes."
"Imagine Isabelle Huppert ('Elle') as the evil stepmother of 'Snow White'? Well, that's exactly what happens in 'Blanche comme neige', an adaptation of the famous Brothers Grimm story adapted by director Anne Fontaine ('Agnus Dei' and 'Coco Before Chanel') for modern times. But Snow White is out of the picture and Claire (Clara in Portuguese) is in, in a great pun. Mixing drama and humor (very French), this production slips up here and there in the narrative, but the film is saved by good performances and technical quality."
