Why watch this film?
Shang-Chi, the master of unarmed weaponry-based Kung Fu, is forced to confront his past after being drawn into the Ten Rings organization.
"At this point, you already know all the formulas of Marvel Studios movies (and superhero productions in general), especially when it comes to telling origin stories. 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' is exactly that, but with new influences - in this case, wuxia films, a genre originating from Chinese cinema and mixing martial arts elements (like those of kung-fu classics) with fantasy, which has already given us productions like 'Hero' and 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'. To carry out this task of ing East and West on the screen, the studio called on director Destin Daniel Cretton (who, born in Hawaii, is of Japanese descent) and put actor Simu Liu (who is Chinese by birth) in the title role. Unfortunately, there are some slips in the script, especially when there is a need for the story to reference (and even correct) other events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Cretton does an excellent job with the challenge he had in his hands, bringing the best of wuxia films: beautiful photography and breathtakingly stylized fight scenes, albeit with shallower motivations. As much as it sounds like the same old story, 'Shang-Chi' has the great merit of breaking barriers, presenting the oriental style to a wider Western audience - in addition to favoring Disney's entry into what is now the world's largest cinema market, precisely the Chinese one. After all, as we know, "money talks". Discover other films from the Marvel universe."
