Why watch this film?
Ulrich Mott, an ambitious social climber, marries a wealthy widow in Washington D.C. in order to mix with powerful political players.
"The pedigree of 'Georgetown' is one of those that leaves no doubt: it's a movie. After all, the feature film is directed and starred by the great Christoph Waltz ('Inglorious Bastards') and with the legendary Vanessa Redgrave ('Desire and Reparation') and Annette Bening ('American Beauty') completing the cast. And the story is also good. Inspired by an article from The New York Times, about the real case of German-American socialite Viola Herms Drath and her young husband Albrecht Muth, 'Georgetown' is an interesting and provocative crime drama in a satirical tone. Although with a somewhat flat script and inexperienced direction, this is a movie that manages to draw attention for the extravagance of its plot, as well as for the powerful performances of this great cast."
